Imation DataGuard
transport and storage case
As data storage tape
cartridges move to capacities that will soon
reach a full terabyte and beyond of corporate
data on a single tape cartridge, the potential
impact of a lost, stolen or damaged cartridge is
now a main concern in the enterprise. Thus,
Imation Corporation introduces its
"terabyte-class" transport and storage case,
designed to protect a company's data storage
tapes during transportation. The Imation
DataGuard transport and storage is geared to
outperform by two to four times the shock
protection of other leading cases.
The DataGuard transport and storage case offers
interchangeable inserts that are slotted and
cushioned to provide optimal protection, and can
be reconfigured when necessary, with a simple
snap-in and snap-out of the inserts. It features
two interchangeable inserts, that are configured
to accommodate LTO Ultrium 1, 2, 3 and 4
cartridges, DLTtape and Super DLTtape
cartridges, IBM 3480/3490, 3590/3590E and 3592
cartridges, and Sun StorageTek T9840, T9940 and
T10000 cartridges.

Encased in a highly visible bright yellow color
that reduces the risk of misplacement, loss or
theft, the DataGuard reduces debris through its
foamless construction of inserts that helps to
keep cartridges free from dust. The cases can be
interlocked and neatly stacked to conserve shelf
or floor space.
The DataGuard case has press and pull latches
that help to ensure strong hold upon impact, and
easy release at the push of a button. The case
is also water-resistant and leak-resistant and
protects cartridges from rain, moisture and
accidental submersion. The case is also capable
of thermal protection that helps to protect data
cartridges against fire damage.
With tape cartridge capacities reaching and
surpassing a terabyte of disk space, it has
become critical for companies to protect their
cartridges during transportation and storage.
