Phoenix Battery Store

IF FINDING an old battery for your most important gadget is too hard to find and too time-consuming to do, then you might just want to check out a battery store in SM Megamall, the only battery haven which can provide you all the battery models for all types of devices.

Phoenix Battery Store is your one-stop-shop battery hub which carries a wide spectrum of batteries ranging from laptops, digital cameras, PDAs, to MP3s, Ipod, mobile phones, and even walky-talkies.

The store can be found near Forty Winks store in Cyberzone. It occupies a small area which easily blends well with its neighboring booths. With over just two people manning the stall, it seems that it is your ordinary store mixed in a sea of PC shops.

But looks can be deceiving, because despite the cramped space, the store houses a string of brands like Toshiba, Acer, HP, Compaq, Konica Minolta, Pentax, Olympus, Palmone, XDAs, Nokia, and Ericsson, to name a few.

With Phoenix Battery, consumers can find both the latest and outdated batteries. It caters rare finds like Acer’s Travelmate C100 Series. Comparatively, it is a drive-thru service wherein people get to be served without the constraint of waiting three to four weeks before their battery order comes.

Batteries found in the store are both generic and original. The generic has a discount of 50% while the original brand’s price remains unchanged. There is also a warranty for batteries purchased. For laptops, digicams, PDAs, and walky-talkies, there is a three-month warranty, and one-month warranty for mobile phone batteries.

Phoenix Battery was established in October last year by William Shik, owner and President of Entry Data Point (EDP), a distributor of computers and peripherals which is also located in Cyberzone. Originally, EDP had been carrying the same battery replacement service but eventually moved out of the shop to attract more people, thus the creation of the battery shelter.

“Before we put up the battery store outside our shop, we were selling them already at EDP at a 20% discount. But no one gets in, so I decided to put the battery store outside so passersby can see it and will know that we are selling a variety of battery models,” William Shik told PC Buyer’s Guide.
Two Phoenix Battery Stores are currently erected in Metro Manila, one in Megamall and the other in Robinson’s Galleria. Shik’s expansion plans, however, goes beyond the Metropolitan as he is targeting on a nationwide scale.

In Metro Manila, Shik plans to open up a branch in SM North Edsa, and is eyeing on the newly constructed and biggest shopping center so far, the Mall of Asia in Pasay City.

Apart from the eight shops, Phoenix Battery is set to occupy the Visayas, and Mindanao regions, and will concentrate on SM Cebu, and Gaisano Mall in Davao.
